Hot on the heels of National Scaffolders Day, the UK governments’ National Apprenticeship Week gave us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the people who represent the future of our industry. Throughout the week, we proudly showcased several of our apprentices and newly qualified scaffolders, recognising the contribution they already make to Browne’s and to the wider scaffolding sector.
And the stars must have aligned, as Morgan Long marked a significant milestone this week helping to erect his very first projects. As access platform at a Southern Water site as well as a tower on a National Trust building in a heritage setting. Shay Waters, only weeks into his apprenticeship, is already gaining valuable site experience while preparing to develop his classroom knowledge alongside practical skills. Ben Seager continues to progress steadily within the programme, demonstrating the commitment and work ethic that apprenticeships are built upon. We also celebrated brothers Billy and Jimmy Watson, who recently achieved their qualifications and now move forward as fully qualified scaffolders.
We were particularly proud to receive recognition from the NASC – National Access and Scaffolding Confederation, who highlighted Browne’s Apprenticeship Programme at the end of the week and congratulated Morgan on his achievement. It is always encouraging to see the industry’s leading trade body championing the next generation and acknowledging the work being done by its members.
Managing Director David Browne commented:
“Apprenticeships are vital to the long-term strength of our industry. Bringing young people into scaffolding, investing in their training and watching them grow in confidence and ability is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Our future depends on the next generation learning the craft properly and taking pride in it.”
At Browne’s, apprenticeships are not an add-on. They are central to how we strengthen our teams, raise standards and carry our craft forward. National Apprenticeship Week may have come to a close, but our commitment to developing skilled, confident scaffolders continues every day.
