Work is officially underway at Botany Bay, where Browne’s Construction is delivering a new semi-permanent public toilet facility for Southern Water.
Following weeks of planning, design coordination and liaison with Southern Water and Thanet District Council, the site has now been secured and the civil engineering works have begun.
The project will see Browne’s deliver the full enabling and groundworks package required for the new modular facility, including the reinforced concrete base, drainage connection, fresh-water infrastructure, accessible ramp and associated handrailing.
The new modular unit will provide male, female and accessible WC facilities and has been designed so it can be lifted and relocated when required. Off-site manufacture of the unit is progressing alongside the civils programme, allowing both workstreams to run concurrently.
The Botany Bay location brings its own challenges, including a busy public environment, access constraints and the need to coordinate utility connections across different land ownership boundaries. Browne’s has worked closely with the client and local authority teams to agree the site layout, access arrangements and public communications ahead of mobilisation.
With the compound now secured and groundworks underway, the project has moved firmly from planning into delivery.
