Heritage Scaffolding
Preserving historic buildings requires careful planning and specialist access solutions. Browne’s provides scaffolding systems that support restoration works while protecting the integrity of the historic structure.
Precision Scaffolding
Working on listed buildings, period properties and heritage sites demands a different approach to standard scaffolding. Every project begins with a detailed assessment of the building’s condition, structural features and conservation requirements. This allows us to design scaffolding that provides safe access without placing unnecessary stress on sensitive materials or historic fabric.
Our teams are experienced in delivering access solutions for roofing, façade works, stone repairs and window restoration across a wide range of heritage settings. We use non-invasive fixing methods where required and develop bespoke scaffold designs that adapt to irregular structures, fragile elevations and restricted environments. Careful planning ensures minimal disruption to both the building and its surroundings.
Safety and compliance sit at the centre of every project. As members of NASC and accredited through CHAS, SMAS and Constructionline, Browne’s operates to recognised industry standards while working closely with conservation teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure all works meet heritage guidelines.
From large landmark buildings to smaller historic properties, we deliver scaffolding solutions that respect the craftsmanship of the past while enabling the work needed to preserve it for the future.

Ightham Mote
Repair Work Access to Bell Tower
Following detailed planning and design collaboration, Browne’s constructed a scaffold structure to enable safe repair and redecoration works on the Bell Tower in the Courtyard of the historic 14th-century moated manor house in Kent. Ightham Mote and its gardens are owned by the National Trust and are open to the public. The house is a Grade I listed building, and parts of it are a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Tower Access
Browne’s was appointed to design, supply, erect and dismantle a scaffold tower within a confined courtyard to provide safe access to the roof.
The structure measured approximately 2m in width and 9m in height, with two fully boarded working lifts to allow safe and efficient access. Due to the location and constraints of the courtyard, the scaffold was designed as a freestanding tower, incorporating a buttress system to ensure stability without the need to tie into or impact the existing building.
All working platforms were fully boarded and fitted with handrails and toe boards to the full perimeter, with safe ladder access provided throughout.
The result was a secure, well-considered access solution that allowed works to be carried out efficiently while protecting the surrounding structure.
What our clients say

"Browne’s Scaffolding has supported Solent Sky Museum for several years, generously providing free access scaffolding to help us preserve key pieces of Britain’s marine and aviation history. Their professionalism, care and genuine enthusiasm for our work have been invaluable. Thanks to David and his teams, we’ve been able to safely maintain and protect iconic exhibits that would otherwise be out of reach. We truly couldn’t do what we do without their continued support."
